Doreen's work is fabulous, however, Hay House (the publisher) makes a fraudulent promise with this book. Clearly stated on the cover is that the book "includes a free Meditative Audio Download to guide you in learning and using the seven sacred secrets". I learned from their customer service that this is not true. They offer only an audio that you can listen to online from your computer, not a download. For someone who prefers to meditate away from my computer this is not a solution. I was very disappointed in Hay House for making a false promise and in not being able to meditate to integrate this information more fully.
This book is small but powerful, small enough to stuff in a bag and read on the plane from Baltimore to San Diego. It's a little bigger than a 5 x 7 photo, and only108 pages. It includes a CD of Doreen discussing the concepts in the book, so you are getting a double package. (It is NOT a meditative CD like it says in Amazon's writeup.) And, the book and CD are clear and easy to understand, as are all of Doreen's books and CDs. So, if you're going to tell me, "I don't have time to read," then fine. Listen to the CD a couple of times in the car on the way to work until you find the time to read the book. (You know darned well you FIND the time for what you REALLY want to do anyway!)In this little bombshell, Angel Lady writes her interpretation of the Hermetic manual, The Kybalion, a classic esoteric self-help book, first published in 1908. Hermes Trismegistus was a great spiritual teacher in ancient Egypt who wrote and lectured about the ability of the MIND to create and heal.The CD has 7 tracks, explaining the Kybalion and the Seven Sacred Secrets. Doreen tells us we all have special powers from the Divine. We can learn how to harness them by studying these secrets.The 7 Principles are: 1) MENTALISM (the Universe is mental, held in the mind of The All) Spirit is The All; Using the Laws of the Universe to rise above the lower vibrations of pain and suffering to live life in the higher vibrations, and above pain and suffering. 2 ) CORRESPONDENCE "As above, so below and as below, so above". 3 ) VIBRATION (everything vibrates. Slower vibrations are matter; highest are Spiritual. You can hold thoughts and emotions so they vibrate at a higher level and gain control over that which affects your life. Called "Induction and telepathy," you can not only affect your vibration, but directly affect the vibration of others. 4 ) POLARITY (2 extremes of the pole--hot and cold are 2 extremes of the pole "temperature". Move a visualized lever to the side of the pole you want and away from the end you don't want. 5) RHYTHM (everything moves up and down the pole in rhythm). 6) CAUSE and EFFECT (nothing happens by chance) 7) GENDER (recognizing and balancing the male and female energies within you.)Live life in a higher vibration??? When you choose to (yes, I said CHOOSE to) be pleasant and happy and at peace, you are living at a higher vibration. That higher vibration not only passes to others but it helps to repel negative vibrations from you. I am delighted with this little Book and the accompanying CD. I started to purchase the Kindle edition but decided not to since I wouldn't have gotten the CD and I am finding that to be the best part. I notice that several reviewers were disappointed that the CD wasn't a meditation but instead it was a reading of the book by the author. Thank goodness for that! I have listened to it over and over while driving and it has contributed to my deeper understanding of the message in the text. Now I am going back through the book to dig out the gems. I take something brilliant from every chapter.THE LAW OF USE: "The possession of Knowledge unless accompanied by a manifestation and expression in action, is like the hoarding of precious metals: a vain and foolish thing. Knowledge, like wealth, is intended for use. The Law of Use is Universal, and he who violates it suffers by reason of his conflict with natural forces." ~ The Kybalion"Beware of mental miserliness, in which you hoard your ideas and inspirations. Instead, express into action that which you have learned."
I already read the Kybalion by the Three Initiates and understood it well, but I was curious as to how the perspective of a woman would interpret the great wisdom held in the Kybalion. This is my first book by Miss Virtue. I must say I was very pleased and happy both that Miss Virtue wrote this book and that I was wise enough to read basically the same book twice but written from a not wholly different female perspective. It's actually quite easily to immediately put the knowledge attained from this great work to use. Well written book from an awesome author. I may have to see what this Angel talk is about after all
Just read the Kybalion from which this book is copied without any worthwhile comments or insights. And keep in mind that since 17th century it is well known that Hermetic doctrine is a fake (Corpus Hermeticum was composed by Hellenic philosophers during the decline of their culture about 2000 years ago)
Fascinating book - a subject I knew nothing about so it was wonderful to reat up on it. The Hermetic system is very logical and based on science - rhythms, vibration, polarities etc. In terms of "how" to work with these in order to manifest, there were no in depth instructions, just generalities. It's possible to work with those generalities but the true value of the book is as an introduction to HermesT and his system of keeping oneself vibrating in the higher registers. Worth it for that particular reason.
I have read a lot of spiritual books. Doreen does warn that you may have heard these principles, which is true but the way she ties them together IS new for me. One builds on the other which gives you a whole new understanding of these laws. A lot of reviews have said that the CD is not a meditation (as stated on the cover), it's not, but what I did was listen to the CD first, where she discusses the 7 laws & goes into a little detail. This way you can get a general understanding of the principles & see how they work together. Then I read the book, which goes into a lot more detail. It gives you a chance to really "digest" and understand what your reading. She gives examples of how to use them in your daily life. WOW it really works! I can't believe it's so easy. Get it you won't be sorry!
