I loved this second book in the trilogy even more than the first, Animus. That was an excellent beginning and I flew through this second installment. I can't wait for book three! This is a love story, a history lesson, a cosmic revolution! Our heroine, Eve, has to come to terms with a new dystopia, or lead the human race out of it. I can't wait to see what comes in book three~

The premise is unique and it combines spirituality, human experience, transendence, astronomy, astrology, mythology, science, love, hate and makes this wholly new type of book. It's fast paced, it's enthralling and it has one of the most bad ass, whip smart heroines I have seen in a book in a very long time. A continuation from book one, this book had me on the edge of my chair, wanting to know what would happen next. Many twists and turns in the plot kept me interested from beginning to end as I witnessed the changes in the world of Eve. A fascinating read.

I've found that this is one of those books that requires a rereading or three. It contains some pretty interesting and intense concepts that provoke some internal conversation. The book is well researched and goes well beyond the thin skin of the YA covering. Highly recommended.

Aurora took me a little while longer to get hooked than Animus did, but once I was in I couldn’t put it down! Great read, I’m having a bit of a Aurora hangover and need a few days before I start the third book Aquarius! I can’t wait to see what happens as we enter the 5th dimension!

I love Amazon, but you have to be careful about the way very different versions of a book sometimes wind up on the same sales page with their reader reviews mixed together. At the time I am writing, the page for the Walter Kaufmann translation of the Gay Science lists a Kindle edition for 99 cents, but that edition is not the Kaufmann. It is a new version of Thomas Common's poor translation from a hundred years ago; without its slight re-editing, this public domain version is available free elsewhere. Although I do see one contrary opinion in the reviews, the vast majority of readers greatly prefer the Kaufmann translation, and until that is made available for Kindle, I would suggest one of the inexpensive used copies of the paperback, which you can also get on this page. _That_ is a five star book.EDITED IN OCTOBER 2015: As of THIS date, you can get a Kindle version of the Kaufmann translation for 11.99. A bit pricey for a Kindle reissue, but still worth it (and it may come down sometimes). If you are not seeing that version on the page where you read this review, do another search in the Kindle department, just searching for "Kaufmann," nothing else, and you should find it; you may have to go through a few pages. Price and accessibility may change in the future, of course.

I rate this 1 star because the kindle version is messed up. It doesn't contain a coherent translation. It switches from English to German mid sentence. It's frustrating and unreadable. I want a refund...but I don't see that happening. Buy the physical book. It's correct.

About the Author

Mark Costanzo received his Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz. He is a professor of psychology at Claremont McKenna College and a member of the plenary faculty at Claremont Graduate University. He has published research on a variety of law-related topics including police interrogations, false confessions, jury decision-making, sexual harassment, attorney argumentation, alternative dispute resolution, and the death penalty. He has also published research in the areas of nonverbal communication, teaching techniques, and energy conservation. Professor Costanzo is author of the books, Just Revenge: Costs and Consequences of the Death Penalty and Psychology Applied to Law. He has co-edited four books, including, Expert Psychological Testimony for the Courts and Violence and the Law. Professor Costanzo has served as a consultant or expert witness for more than 80 criminal cases. In 2008, he was the winner of the Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring Award from the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI), and in 2010, he received the Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring Award from the American Psychology-Law Society (APLS).Daniel Krauss completed a joint degree program in psychology and law at the University of Arizona, receiving his J.D. and then his Ph.D. in clinical psychology and psychology, policy, and law. He is a professor at Claremont McKenna College, and is a plenary faculty member at Claremont Graduate University. Professor Krauss is primarily interested in the interaction of law and clinical psychology, and has published a large number of research articles and book chapters relating to clinical psychological evaluations for the courts, legal and psychological expertise, and jury decision-making. He has co-edited 3 books, and is the co-editor of, the law and public policy: psychology and the social sciences book series by the American Psychological Association (APA) Press. Professor Krauss is licensed to practice law in Arizona, is a member of the United States Supreme Court bar, and has served as the United States Supreme Court Fellow to the U.S. Sentencing Commission. He is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of California, and a diplomate in forensic psychology, board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology. In 2010, he was awarded the Early Career Research Award by the Western Psychological Association.

One of the few textbooks I've been required to read that I actually like. It has great examples of cases over the years so you get an inside look at things. It's extremely well written and I actually feel like I'm learning a lot. It's not boring or dry, and it's an exciting read. Great textbook!

Came here looking for the 2nd edition, which is what is advertised if you look at hardcover options. If you click on e-textbook options, it only shows the Canadian version. I should have looked more closely, I searched for the book I needed and once I found it, I clicked on the digital format and completed my purchase. This is not the same book.

When I opened the box the book was in, I was shocked to see the hard cover was ripped off and hanging by a thread. I was afraid to open it but It was ok on the inside. It should have been in the poor or very very used session.I used this book for college. The price was ok but not sure I will use this source again. :(

Before reading this textbook I had a lot of misconceptions about forensic psychology, especially as regards profiling. This book gave me a better understanding of this and more.

When the book arrived it smelled entirely like an ashtray. While I was advised by customer service that I could return the book and purchase another, this didn’t work for me as I needed it for class and could not wait.

I had to buy this book for an introductory course to legal psychology. This book is very well written, it is very engaging and covers all the main theories and cocepts related to Forensic and Legal Psychology.Once you open a page to a chapter YOU WILL NOT WANT TO PUT IT DOWN.

I was required to read this book for a class and I can honestly say this is the only textbook I have read start to finish and it held my interest. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a better grasp on psychology, also anyone interested in family law or forensic law. The text is very easy to understand, there are a lot of pictures and diagrams and explanations of key words.

Quite the necessary book for a forensic psych major ;) Has some interesting topics broken down into chapters that are easy to read and digest.
